Big Mazal Tov to our good friend's Noach Tannenbaum and Sara Eisenberg for your lchaim last Sunday night! It was
a beautiful lechaim and was so nice to see all the Aliya Chassidim show up dressed in their finest to celebrate you special day.
Last night was one of the largest Aliya Farbrengens in history. Well over 100 bochrim and shluchim from Wilkes Barre,
Jets, Yehoshua’s Colel and more joined together for and an amazingly energizing and uplifting Yud Shvat farbrengen. Rabbi Eli Engelson who runs Yehoshua’s Colel was the guest speaker. We ordered food from Prime Avenue for 60 people and had to reorder another round halfway through. As the night progressed the energy continued to intensify and climaxed onto a lively dance of unity (click here to watch a 30 second glimpse of the farby). The farbrengen went strong until 3am!
Thank you Rabbi Levi Blizinsky (Shliach at Wilkes Barre) for helping coordinate all the groups for this memorable event that gave everyone present a strong sense of belonging and connection!
Aliya is very excited about this weekend’s Shabbaton. Approximately 20 guys have signed up and are psyched to celebrate Shabbos in a most inspirational way, in a beautiful country home away from the distractions of the city and the distraction of electronic devices which are happily handed in as the sun sets for Shabbos.
We look forward to sharing pictures, videos in next week’s Aliya Newsletter. May we all celebrate this coming Shabbos Shirah together with a global Shabbaton in the Third Bais Hamikdash!

For my long time readers I’m sure you can predict the story I will share today as I share this story every year in honor of Yud Shvat. This year I once again share the story in memory of my late grandfather Shmuel Feiglin, youngest son of Moshe Zalmen Feiglin whom I’m named after.
This story was recorded by my cousin Rabbi Uri Kaploun who was an eye witness to the story and had it printed in the introduction to Likutei Diburim:
“In a tiny Australian town called Shepparton, which was to carry the seed of today's thriving empire of Chabad-Lubavitch activity that spans the entire continent, an elderly chassid woke up suddenly one Friday night. This was my late grandfather,
Reb Moishe Zalman Feiglin ע״ה , a chassid who for decades had been bound with every thread of his noble soul to the Previous Rebbe, of blessed memory, even though during their time in this world they had never met. As he was then recently widowed, his twelve-year-old grandson (the editor of this volume) slept in his house to keep him company.
On that Friday night he hurried anxiously into the dining room, where I followed him, to discover what had woken him: a framed photograph of the Previous Rebbe, which for years had occupied pride of place on a sideboard at the head of the room,
had fallen to the floor. Pointing at the shattered glass he said quietly, "Something has happened!" I did my best to reassure him that there must have been a draft or perhaps a tremor, but to no avail.
On Shabbos morning he shared his concern with our learned neighbor Reb Bezalel Wilschansky, the first of the Previous Rebbe's emissaries to Australia, who had come by as always to say Gut Shabbos, and to accompany my grandfather and my father
ע״ה to shul. He too sought to reassure my grandfather. Now my zeide was a man who had never been known to be shocked out of his tranquil faith and equanimity. This Shabbos, the only time in my recollection, he could find no peace. Finally, sometime after Shabbos, the ominous telegram arrived from Brooklyn. The date of that Shabbos was the Tenth of Shvat 5710 (1950).”
Soon after allowing the children of Israel to depart from Egypt, Pharaoh chases after them to force their return, and the Israelites find themselves trapped between Pharaoh’s armies and the sea. G‑d tells Moses to raise his staff over the water; the sea splits to allow the Israelites to pass through, and then closes over the pursuing Egyptians. Moses and the children of Israel sing a song of praise and gratitude to G‑d.
In the desert the people suffer thirst and hunger, and repeatedly complain to Moses and Aaron. G‑d miraculously sweetens the bitter waters of Marah, and later has Moses bring forth water from a rock by striking it with his staff. He causes manna to rain down from the heavens before dawn each morning, and quails to appear in the Israelite camp each evening.
The children of Israel are instructed to gather a double portion of manna on Friday, as none will descend on Shabbat, the divinely decreed day of rest. Some disobey and go to gather manna on the seventh day, but find nothing. Aaron preserves a small quantity of manna in a jar, as a testimony for future generations.
In Rephidim, the people are attacked by the Amalekites, who are defeated by Moses’ prayers and an army raised by Joshua.
