After a sewer back up damaged Aliya Center’s basement music studio, they decided that instead of just rebuilding what was, they would take the opportunity to go to the next level.
The flood, caused by a sewer malfunction, took place in the month of Tishrei, and caused severe damage to the Aliya Music Studio. When the leadership of Aliya, headed by Rabbi Moshe Feiglin, got together to plan what to do, they decided that they would take a section of the basement and build a mikvah.
To get the mikvah started, they flew down Rabbi Gershon Grossbaum, a renowned mikvah expert from Minnesota. Rabbi Grossbaum began the new project by giving a class in Aliya, explaining the intricate details of what makes a mikva kosher.
Rabbi Grossbaum then toured the Aliya basement, taking measurements and laying out a plan on how to build the new Aliya mikvah in the most practical way.
“The guys were all extremely excited about this new addition to Aliya and all committed to use it despite not having gone to mikvah in many years,” Rabbi Moshe Feiglin said.
The new mikvah won’t be an ordinary community mikvah, like the many others in Crown Heights. Rather, this mikvah will be designed exclusively for young men who would never go to the mikva otherwise. It will be a private beautiful room with a shower and changing room for one person at a time.
Over the next months, the next stages of the mikvah building will be planned out, including a campaign that will likely take place around Yud Shvat.
“May this new Aliya mikvah initiative usher in the complete Geulah and help the Aliya members purify themselves and be able to bring up korbanos as soon as the Third Bais Hamikdash is built,” Rabbi Feiglin said.
This year we are extremely proud to display our own, in-house, successful alumni to be our matchers in our annual fundraiser. We have an extremely unique campaign that is being matched "By our own for our own". For 365 days a year, we dedicate ourselves 24/7 to help out youth. One day a year we invite YOU to be our partners. We want to share the tremendous Zechus of taking care of the Rebbe’s own children that didn’t fit the mainstream. We are holding onto the elite and with the right connection and affection, have the power to reveal the true power lying dormant in these very special neshamos.
We want to share this brocha with you and let you also reap the awesome benefits of supporting Aliya. You too can share in the beautiful Brochos that our campaign matchers and donors enjoy.
This campaign will enable us to hire Life Coach Moishe Chanin to work with our new 13-17 year old division. It will also enable us to enhance our security at our center. We provide a community, gym, music rooms, Farbrengens, Shabbatons, job connects, yeshiva and therapist referrals, Shabbos meals, weeknight dinners and much much more...We must make sure our center is also a safe haven for our young men!
Today we invite you to join our team. You can donate, promote and share our campaign. We want to share the wealth with you!
Aliya is a warm, inviting home of refuge for so many young people in our community. Countless young adults (and now teens) turn to our center for love, acceptance, community, spirituality, job leads, a hot meal, shabbatons, therapy, a hug from one of our many rabbis, a safe haven, place to learn and play music and much much more.
Let's stand together as a community and show our beautiful young Chassidim that they matter and we invest them and believe in them.

Aliya is the first Chabad House in the world that was set up to do Inreach instead of Outreach!
Established in 2003, A.L.I.Y.A. (Alternative Learning Institute for Young Adults) has been committed to serving spiritual, physical, educational, emotional and vocational needs of young adults in the Crown Heights community.
In 2006, the board of A.L.I.Y.A. successfully found a permanent location on E New York Ave which enabled A.L.I.Y.A. To consolidate its activities into one central location and provide a local ‘round the clock’ center for young adults. Since its purchase, the building has undergone extensive construction in order to better facilitate all of its programs.

1) Spirituality: Growing up in a tight-knit religious community religion plays a very large role in day to day life. Many young adults in these communities have become isolated and don't fit in the mainstream religious structure. Aliya has created a warm welcoming and user-friendly approach to traditional shabbos and yomtov services as well as personalized learning that make everyone feel their place and sense of belonging.
2) Vocational: Many young men that leave the traditional Yeshivah system find themselves lost in the outside world when it comes to seeking employment and education. Aliya has aligned assists with college scholarships at 'Machon Leparnassa on a case by case basis. Aliya also connects its members with free and paid local GED courses.
3) Employment: Many young men walk through our doors and are in desperate need of employment to help them cover their day to day expenses. Aliya has a network of local businesses that are constantly looking to hire and they call us first. We also help our young members that are looking for some startup capital or business advice with local entrepreneurs.
4) Coaching: Most of Aliya's Rabbis are trained life coaches which give them the expertise to assist and support its young members when they walk through its doors. They are also connected to a network of drug addiction counselors, local NA and AA meetings, as well as psychotherapists when needed.
Aliya also has regular group therapy as well as one on one therapy upon request all free of charge.
5) Recreation: Recreational activities play a very large role in the overall well-being and growth of young adults. The Aliya center has a full workout gym which is available to its members to help them stay healthy. Aliya also has a music studio which is used for open session jamming as well as music classes to help bring out their natural talents for music.
Aliya also takes its members on biannual shabbatons. Summer time consists of spending shabbos at a scenic location followed by fun and nature on Sunday. The winter shabbaton includes a Sunday ski trip.
We successfully serviced hundreds of young adults, many at risk, in our community and have touched thousands since our creation. We make 10-20 weddings every year, line up hundreds of jobs and save countless lives!
We have made hundreds of weddings, sent many into rehab and therapy. Some of our graduates are shluchim today. Others are our supporters.
